Part of the Trans Pennine Trail in Stockport will be closed for approximately five weeks from Monday, 28th June 2021 for resurfacing works to take place. Update (28/06/21): This closure has now been postponed to mid-September 2021.
The planned closure of the one-way road from Errwood to Derbyshire Bridge in the Upper Goyt Valley has reportedly been delayed by around a month, as footpath closures and other plans show the scale of the tree felling works.
Derbyshire County Council has authorised a five month closure of the unnamed one-way road from Errwood Hall to Derbyshire Bridge for forestry works. A beloved route for cycling out of the Goyt Valley into the wider Peak District, its closure will potentially leave few alternative routes for an entire summer of cycling.
It’s still very steep, but oh it’s so much better. The nearly ten-year-old path on the Alan Newton Way which climbs sharply from the River Goyt up to Marple Hall has now been massively improved with cleared vegetation and a new sealed surface.
Marple’s only off-road cycle route into the borough centre of Stockport will be closed from late March 2021 for much-needed maintenance work on the steep descent below Marple Hall High School to Chadkirk Bridge.
Middlewood Way is closed for four weeks just north of Bollington Viaduct as Cheshire East undertake resurfacing and improvement works to the trail, part of NCN Route 55, which runs from Marple to Macclesfield.
The Peak District National Park has announced two weeks of temporary closures for parts of the Monsal Trail, the former railway line from Bakewell to Millers Dale, near Buxton.
One of the most popular Goyt Valley footpaths will be closed completely until November for major works, as the forest alongside Fernilee Reservoir undergoes a once in a lifetime change.
